My Antonia

My Antonia, Oil on Canvas, 22 x 28
After reading Willa Cather's My Antonia I pulled out a lonely old canvas with the Cheyenne River Valley and added our heroine. I so admire the strength and perseverance of our pioneer grandmothers.

Hot Pink Yarrow
Watercolor  12x9

Sometimes it is good to go back and try the old favorite medium.  It had been a couple of summers since I had done watercolors, too caught up in getting a handle on those oils. This was fun & very fast!

Down to the River
Oil on Linen 14x11

We just didn't get to go swimming near enough in 2013. Feeling the pull of the water on our last sixty degree day in October, the shimmering was lovely but I was not going to be getting wet and shivering!

Fall Colors

Poplars Ablaze
Oil on Linen, 14x11
My personal favorite autumn ephemeral for 2013.
This piece was in the window at Frameworks Gallery as part of the Outdoor Painters of Minnesota group show. There were over 50 members participating.  I am always amazed and inspired by this show; all the abilities, styles and perspectives of a group of folks who share the same passion in going outdoors and painting the beauty of Minnesota.
